  1. ACNE

It’s a disease caused by bacteria and it mainly affects the hair follicles of the face.Most women develop it in their mid 20s .it usually occurs when the body is undergoing physical and psychological changes so in return it may cause withdrawal and even depression.If left untreated it can lead to severe disfiguring of the face .

There are several myths that exist about acne for example it is caused by uncleanliness or not washing your face for a long time.In real sense acne may be caused by consuming fast foods and a high in take of fat foods.

SYMPTOMS

- It appears on the skin in form of blackheads,pimples and boils.However there are other diseases that can be mistaken for acne for example;

Rosacea-Its also characterized by pimples but they appear in only a section of the face and generally affect people in their mid 30s or 40s or older.

Folliculitis -Pimples occur on other parts oof the body such as the abdomen,buttocks and legs .They do not represent acne but inflamed follicles.They are mainly treated by prescribing oral antibiotics but not the same ones that would treat acne.

CAUSES

There is no exact cause of acne.At some point everyone has experienced acne in their life.Sometimes it can be hereditary so if your parents experienced its only logical when you experience it.

-In some patients ,pressure from helmets,collars,chinstraps and suspenders can build acne.

-Some medications may cause or worsen or cause acne for example those containing oral or injected steroids or the drugs used to treat bipolar disorder.

-Some cosmetics and skin care products clog the pores when used so it is important to look at the ingredients and find the ones that are listed with water as the first or second ingredient

TREATMENT

-Basically everyone suffers from acne at some point in their life,its important to treat it when there is potential scarring

-Do not pop a pimple makes it stay redder and bumpier for longer.Try drinking the right amount of water everyday and changing your lifestyle.

-Cleaning or washing your face at least two times a day will minimize irritation and sensitivity.

-Get rid of the oil on your skin by using a clean towel or apply a trusted gel.Masks containing sulfur and other ingredients draw out facial oil.
