3.ALLERGIES
If someone has an allergy it means that their immune system reacts to a substances which most of the time are harmless.They are usually just mere reactions but sometimes they can be life threatening
CAUSES
They can be divided into two categories ;
Host factors –Heredity,race ,age and gender even though heredity is the most common factor.However in recent years some allergic reactions have been hard to explain.Some of them may be caused by exposure to environmental pollution and chnges in diet.
-For example one of the most common food allergies is panut butter allergy.It contains a lot of protein which reacts very badly with people especially those children of school going age.The foods that most people are allergic to include eggs and milk especially from cows and goats mostly at a young age.Most foods containing allergenic proteins include soy,wheat,fish,fruits and vegetables
-These are reactions caused by bacteria and viruses.Individuals exposed to dull environments have an immune system that is not very active so once they are exposed to other environmental or hygienic factors ,they are bound to have allergic reactions
TREATMENT
Treatments of allergies is administered according to an individual’s medical history and general physical health.
There are three most common ways of treating an allergy;
Avoidance-simply means staying away from the substance that gives you allergic reactions be it food ,medicine
For people whose reactions are caused by environmental factors,for example pollen grains,they have to try and remain indoors when It’s windy because that’s when the pollen grain count is high.
